Albert Schnelzer – Weekend Composer 2017

Albert Schnelzer  will be composer in focus at the Stockholm Concert Hall Weekend Festival in 2017.

The festival will include the world premiere of a new piece commissioned by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic. Jacob Koranyi will be solist in the Cello Concerto Crazy Diamond, and RSPO will also perform the opening piece Tales from Suburbia as well as Brain Damage – Concerto for Orchestra, under the direction of the young American conductor Evan Rogister.

Also guesting the festival is the Gävle Symphony Orchestra under Gerard Korsten, that will give a performance of Schnelzers “hit piece”  A Freak in Burbank  and the Oboe Concerto  The Enchanter, with soloist Francois Lelux.

Furthermore a number of chamber music pieces will be performed by the Stenhammar Quartet,  soprano Susanna Andersson, pianist Henrik Måwe and others.

The festival will take place at the Stockholm Concert Hall  on 6 -9 April.
